Ahmed Gómez was born in Holguin, Cuba, in 1972. He studied at the Escuela Nacional de Arte, in Havana, and graduated from the Instituto Superior de Arte in 1994. During this time, Ahmed participated in various solo and collective exhibits. His was nourished with new elements from the world of art restoration when, after leaving Cuba, he traveled to Mexico to become part of a mural art restoration team. Regarding his work, Omar-Pascual Carrillo has said, "[Ahmed] plays with the irony of the illusory beauty of success, questioning its effectiveness in an infinite dialogue between two traditions: the American tradition of pin-up girs and the European tradition of the historical vanguard. The first as a paradigm of the desire for a feminine ideal of beauty; the latter as a programmatic paradigm for a radical aesthetic change in the conception of Art. It is as if within the same discursive territory, he would contrast the quintessential capitalist advertisement with the quintessential communist propaganda tool." Ahmed Gómez has participated in numerous international exhibitions and was part of the 2010 Beijing International Art Biennale, Beijing, China.
